Blogging Challenge | Week 4 – Why Did I Start Blogging
In Week 4 of the Blogging Challenge I have asked to talk about why I started blogging. One of the most asked questions I used to get when I first started blogging was why? Why did you start the blog? What do you blog about? How did your blog change direction and why is it still changing?
Back when I found out I was pregnant with Jensen I started reading a whole bunch of websites and naturally this lead me to stumble across a couple of parenting blogs. They were such a huge help to me and I thought that maybe, possibly, I might be able to help/inspire someone else that was going through something similar. My first blog back in 2009 was called Life at the Greenies and was mainly focused on my experiences as a pregnant and then new mommy. What I was going through and trying to cope with it all.
Naturally, my blog started changing direction as I started to change and grow and then it started to focus more on my life, my loves, my beauty and skin care regimes and how much I really, REALLY, started liking makeup and skin care. I renamed my blog Lipglossed Ninja and when I did that my blog really seemed to take off. I got an incredible amount of followers, comments and feedback and ran with the first Cape Town Blog Meet Up which was a huge success. I also made and met some incredible ladies, who I can honestly call my friends!
When I decided to move over the UK with my family I thought that it might be time to change my blog a little bit again, try to make it more about me and my lifestyle and possible travel experiences (none of which have happened as yet) and then ran through another rename and re-brand of the blog and landed up with Lately Lauren – a blog about life, love, beauty and maybe, possibly a little travel.
I really do want to start getting back into blogging about beauty and skin care but I am honestly finding it so difficult with the fact that I worked in a major luxury skin care company and I feel that it would be weird to blog about other skin care products as I don’t use anything other than the products my company makes and sells. I also don’t feel that I should blog about these products because it might come across as though I am biased or not being truthful about the products since I get paid to work for the brand.
I will however try to start blogging about beauty once again and I will obviously keep blogging about my life and everything that does happen – especially to try keep my friends and family updated back home in South Africa.
Blogging Challenge | Week 3 – Strengths and Weaknesses
I really don’t think there is anything that I hate more in life than having to discuss my strengths and weaknesses. It’s probably the question I dread most when going in for interviews because I don’t really know about my strengths. Naturally, I can spit out at least a million of my negative traits but that’s not healthy at all now is it?
If I was absolutely pushed, then I guess these would be my answers (and I am going to limit each to 3 points):
My Strengths:
- I am fiercely loyal – to my family and friends.
- I believe the best in people, always – this leads to constant disappointment and could also be used as one of my weakness points…
- I am a really great listener, I can listen to anyone talk for hours and offer a shoulder to cry on… the advice I offer thereafter may not be the best, but at least I can listen!
My Weaknesses:
- I give up to easily. If I stop seeing results or don’t get results quickly enough, I throw in the towel
- I can’t make decisions when I need to – I actually start to panic a little if I get asked to make a decision and don’t even give me the remote control for the TV because I just can’t deal!
- I truly believe that I was a sloth in my past life and that I still have the ability to sleep on command and laze on the sofa doing nothing all damn day!
And that would be my 3 choices in each category. I am sure that there are more but this will do for now. What are you strengths and weaknesses?
