In my earlier post I mentioned that I would be doing a bit of a hand/nail cleansing process. In order to do that I specifically wanted to start off with a hand exfoliation. With that in mind, I headed off to Clicks and looked around and truth be told, I really couldn’t find anything that was reasonably priced and/or caught my eye or nose with a decent enough scent.
I came home and decided to do a little research, I came across a few pages with the whole DIY deal and decided I might as well try it. It seems easy enough, so why not right?
The basic ingredients I decided to go with were:
- Coconut Oil
- Brown Sugar
I used 3 tablespoons of each in my mixture – I didn’t want to waste it in case it turned out crap.
After mixing it all together it basically ends up looking a bit like this – bear in mind that in a cooler climate it will be a lot more solid because of the Coconut Oil.
I used a very small amount, initially it was a little difficult to actually spread around my hands but once I got it working and massaged it into my hands for 45 seconds I washed it off with cold water.
The scent is great, its got the whole summer beach vibe going on thanks to the Coconut Oil and my hands are baby soft.
I would suggest following up with a good hand/cuticle cream to keep them moisturised.
The pics below are before and after shots of both hands, please let me know what you think, what suggestions you would use in a hand exfoliator and I will definitely give that a try too!
