This weekend was awesome! Mainly because it was my first ‘date’ night with the spouse in 14 months. Yup, you read that right, 14 MONTHS. Since moving over to London, leaving all 3 sets of Grandparents behind as well as all other family members and everyone we deemed responsible enough to look after Jensen when we weren’t present, we finally made the plunge and went out on a date. Just the two of us. Of course, it helped having Shannon over here again to look after our little sprite.
But, before we head into the tale of our date night, I need to mention that we found this amazing little ‘hole-in-the-wall’ in Wimbledon, it’s called Waffle-Jack’s and they sell *the* most amazing waffles I have had in a really REALLY long time. Jensen and I both had toffee sauce, ice cream and mini marshmallows on ours while Shaun had a breakfast waffle which came with bacon and cheese. He finished it, but just barely, while Jensen and I struggled to finish ours. They also had amazing milkshakes, I had a peanut butter and chocolate milkshake, Shaun settled for a coffee shake and Jensen naturally went for the bubblegum shake as kids tend to do. I would definitely go back again, their waffles were just that good!
After gorging ourselves on waffles and shakes, we headed home to enjoy our food coma’s and then Shaun and I went on our date night. It was great. We had some good food, some alcoholic beverages (as one does) and then we decided to head for some gelato which we ate in the rain because naturally, since we live in London, it started to rain as we were walking back to our car. It was incredibly romantic if you are into that kind of thing 🙂
It’s definitely something Shaun and I need to do again – the going out without a child thing because it really does make a huge difference!
How was your weekend?
